CHILD MARRIAGE IS NOT A ROMA TRADITION

Client: UNICEF

By combining the two most important focuses of the campaign, the problem of tradition and misconceptions about it on the one hand, and the problems of law and children’s rights on the other, an urgent message was sent to the general public that child marriage is a violation of law and human rights.

Through posters and animation, the campaign simultaneously emphasizes the importance of the autonomy of the Roma cultural space, while leaving an active possibility for the campaign to have internal relevance aimed at raising the awareness of the Roma community and its education on human rights. The photo stand in, as a metaphor, represents a virtual space of identity projection, and in this case an abstract image of attainable social and gender roles. The campaign indirectly emphasizes the proactive component of change, the importance of the right to choose and the significance of protecting freedom of choice.
